Position Description

This position starts in Fall 2012.
As a Tax Associate, you will work with various sized businesses in diverse industries and receive hands-on client experience with direct access to business owners. Working on numerous team engagements per year, you will work on several pieces of any particular assignment -- not just one small part -- and you will feel a great sense of accomplishment when you are done.

Associates provide quality tax and consulting services to our clients by performing the duties and responsibilities listed below in an efficient and effective manner.

- Develops relationships with client employees.
- Becomes proficient in assisting clients with routine accounting functions.
- Prepares federal and state and local tax returns.
- Has a working knowledge of all microcomputer applications, which are routinely used.
- Is knowledgeable about accounting and tax pronouncements.
- Progresses professionally by working toward passing the CPA examination.
(Our Tax Associates have the opportunity to obtain the audit hours required for full certification).

From the very beginning, Associates are immersed in our culture. Associates begin their career with McGladrey by being assigned mentors who will assist them through their early days and throughout their careers at McGladrey. New staff members attend a national, New Hire Training program with peers from around the country. Associates attend various Continuing Professional Education classes throughout the year to keep abreast of the latest accounting trends. Also, staff will have the opportunity to work as a team member on diverse client engagements to include manufacturing, real estate, construction, financial institution, not-for-profit, healthcare, and private equity group clients.

Basic Qualifications

- Minimum B.A. / B.S. degree or equivalent from accredited university by August 2011
- Accounting Major
- Minimum 3.0 GPA

Preferred Qualifications

- Achieved or working towards the 150 hour CPA certification requirement
- Excellent written and verbal communication skill
- Strong computer skills, including MS Excel
- Ability to work as an effective member of a team
- Motivated to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Client focused
- Ability to multitask
