The changing landscape of automotive
Low oil prices are driving the increase in light truck sales, but as Lawrence Keyler, RSM’s global automotive sector leader, points out, there are other factors affecting vehicles sales overall. In addition to competition from ride-sharing and ride-hailing, the cost of production is having a deleterious effect on sales overall. Consolidation across the industry is not out of the question.
In this brief video, Keyler observes that automotive manufacturers and their suppliers are making long-term strategic investments while keeping a close eye on their margins and profitability. As these manufacturers transform, however, their employees will increasingly need to learn new technical competencies.
